What is YAKITORI 焼き鳥?

YAKITORI is a type of Japanese cuisine involving the breaking down, skewering and grilling of chicken — seasoned with Japanese sea salt or tare (a special soy-based seasoning sauce), cooked over scorching-hot Japanese white oak charcoal known as binchotan. Binchotan is smokeless, odorless and can burn at more than 1000ºF, enhancing the true flavor of any ingredient cooked over it. The effect it has on food is unmistakably unique, delicious and unforgettable.
